I continue to have problems with NetBackup. Really strange problems. For example, one of my backup jobs is sending out, on average, 300 success emails per night for three clients. I don’t understand what’s going on and neither, it seems, does Symantec technical support.

I need to move a Mailman installation from one Linux server to another. I found a link detailing how to do it, and I just realized there’s no “but,” as in “but I can’t follow those instructions because the moon is not in the house of Capricorn,” as I surely would if this had been a Windows server.

Microsoft released salmon hatchlings updates that I have to investigate. What do they fix, but more important, what do they break? Microsoft should change its name to Glass Half-Empty, Inc.

In other news, I’m back helping answering technical support telephone calls. I’d quite happily forgotten how utterly dumb people who, a few hours before, drove their cars to work.
